Costs of Installation & Ongoing Costs

Installed July '96. Novice computer user as receptionist up and running after 3 days training. Software cost $2,500 plus annual fee of $1,000. Disappointed in level of support in relation to the cost after a year (?change of direction in the company) - Solo GP, 09/12 8:48
Installation costs were high as new hardware had to be purchased as well. Annual fee of $1750 for support - Group GP, 4/2/99 15:47

Time involved in establishing the package

Some time spent with establishing initial link with Genieô. Coordinating two software designers to allow integration. Three days training for reception staff. Lengthy periods trying to establish MedClaims; aborted as this process is not fully sorted yet. - Solo GP, 09/12 8:48
The computer system was installed in April 1998. Some eight months later the system is still unable to produce a correct end of month Reminder Statement for a patient. Problems started on the day of installation. Jam were supposed to be training the staff but with the computer crashing, there was very poor quality of training given. After eight months the system is still not established correctly. - Group GP, 4/2/99 15:47
Lengthy time for establishing system - Group GP, 23/2/00 3:02 PM

Level of Support received from developers

Initially good. After the first year there seemed to be a decline. Letters not answered, phone support slow, appointments not kept, no news of upgrades. Decided to cancel annual support fee ($1000.00) after no reply to letter requesting reasons to justify continuation of service contract. Perhaps the company is heading in a different direction. New version, about which we were not informed, handles new Medicare claim forms. Version 2.9 does not. Unable to adjust fields except with the new version. Cost of new version is approx. $1,500.00. Exorbitant ....:-( - Solo GP, 09/12 8:48
With the crashes that have been occurring everyday numerous phone calls were made to the developers. There was no continuity with the support. Often told three different ways for correcting errors and quite often the system would crash while following these instructions. The practice felt that with so many problems the support should have been more than 'over the phone'. - Group GP, 4/2/99 15:47
Very poor ongoing support. - Group GP, 23/2/00 3:02 PM

Functionallity & Benefits of the Sytem

Simple and efficient. Using version 2.9, with a few minor bugs, in printing. Computer billing more efficient than paper system. With the recent poor support, considering other option. - Solo GP, 09/12 8:48
The system was extemely slow to the point of embarassment. Patients had to queue to pay their bills, some patients were presented with false accounts e.g a sixty five year old gentleman received a statement showing ante-natal care! - Group GP, 4/2/99 15:47
Med Billing operating, although some problems. Schedules has never worked. Scriptwriting very successful. Word processing successful. MD2 operating Continuing general system problems. - Group GP, 23/2/00 3:02 PM

Suggestions and Improvements

Better support needed. - Solo GP, 09/12 8:48
The software needs something! We are not very computer literate but it seems that Jam had a good system for Mac but have not yet got it right for Windows. - Group GP, 4/2/99 15:47

Other comments. To whom would you recommend the Package

Excellent programme for both novice and experienced computer users. Suitable for both G.P.s and Specialists. Be wary of poor support. - Solo GP, 09/12 8:48
Being a very busy medical practice we could not recommend this sytem. There are too many crashes, too many errors, declining staff morale, bills have not being paid. We have even been afraid to chase up Aged Debtors because of the errors. - Group GP, 4/2/99 15:47
Would not recommend software. - Group GP, 23/2/00 3:02 PM
