very low - Group GP, 5/2/99 14:03
Software cost - very reasonable compared to other billing packages. - Solo GP, 12/7/2000 10:18 AM
Compudoc costs $600 to start then $200/year. Minor upgrades are free, major upgrades cost less than initial purchase. - Group GP, 22/8/2000 9:14 PM

Time involved in establishing the package

4 hours including importing data from previous accounts system and network cables and dialup setup so I can backup by modem to home - Solo GP, 5/1/99 20:23
was a test site ; grew with the system, cant remember as been using it now for 5yrs - Group GP, 5/2/99 14:03
Quite a while - time needed to install the software , set up 2 networked computers myself , get all the preferences right , setting up medclaims, ironing out any glitches that came up - but the level of support was great , and very personal - Solo GP, 12/7/2000 10:18 AM
Billing packages take time to get all the components together. Software, then HIC then Optus Messenger transfer programming. It's unusual to have it all ready in one day unless careful preparation has organised all the passwords and connections in advance. - Group GP, 22/8/2000 9:14 PM

Level of Support received from developers

excellent - Solo GP, 5/1/99 20:23
very good - Group GP, 5/2/99 14:03
Fantastic. Phone support available , email support always helpful and prompt , and I even had a practice visit to check out my network settings - Solo GP, 12/7/2000 10:18 AM
Compudoc staff are terrific in their knowledge of the product and in their willingness to help get you working well. - Group GP, 22/8/2000 9:14 PM

Functionallity & Benefits of the Sytem

excellent works seemlessly - Solo GP, 5/1/99 20:23
dos is very easy and very stable not in a rush to go to windows based programs in general due to what i've heard about instability of available programs. Mouse is nuisance;takes longer; screens too busy etc; other doctors who work for me use other programs at other practices and all say they prefer our system due to ease of use and no mouse , more stable etc - Group GP, 5/2/99 14:03
Much better at tracking practice income , and now with the GST , tracking the ( albeit small amount ) GST collected as well. - Solo GP, 12/7/2000 10:18 AM
Everthing works well and is easy to follow if you understand what a billing programme does. - Group GP, 22/8/2000 9:14 PM

Suggestions and Improvements

mims integration travel med integration more user friendly appointments schedule and waiting times - Group GP, 5/2/99 14:03
What impresses me is the speed at which the development team responds to feedback , and makes some running changes on the go. For example , I had raised a couple of issues about the program , and it was fixed when the next version was released. They listen to your comments even though you may be the only user with a gripe about a particular feature - Solo GP, 12/7/2000 10:18 AM
Keep up the good work. - Group GP, 22/8/2000 9:14 PM

Other comments. To whom would you recommend the Package

any small practice - Solo GP, 5/1/99 20:23
yes would recommend it if you want a dos based system - Group GP, 5/2/99 14:03
Anyone , who has a little aptitude with computers and is happy and comfortable to install and set up the software - the rewards in cost saving compared to other packages is profound. You do get good tech support , which helps a lot. Thoroughly recommended , especially for small practices like mine. - Solo GP, 12/7/2000 10:18 AM
We started with Compudoc because it was a much lower cost than Pracsoft for 7 PC's and 4 doctors. We have found it stable reliable and flawless. I am not aware of any data it has lost or scrambled. We use it as a backup resource for what MD can do to information. The Support has been excellent, including training in how to use it when you don't read the manual !. We run a significantly under powered Win 95 network and Compudoc will not falter inspite of the provocation we give it. I think HCN passed over a goodie for a biggie when they bought Pracsoft. Compudoc uses a Borland Paradox database, if you prefer to stay out of the Microsoft world view. I thoroughly reccomend it for any sized Practice, especially if you are in the SE Queensland area near their base in South Brisbane. - Group GP, 22/8/2000 9:14 PM
