- Installation cost and ongoing costs
- $750 for Genie - Average for
the Drug/MIMS updates
cost nothing to install - annual
sub
$750.00 - Seems reasonable to me
for Aus software and support
Expensive (genie) but worth it
Raesonable costs initially,
ongoing quite cheap
-
- Set Up time and ongoing time
- Software setup time 5 minutes
(tops)
- Data entry-that's another
story-about ?10% easier than with Medical Director
Once I had loaded my
demographics I was ready to go; that was a bit of a
fiddle but easy enough with email support
No prob. Just follow the install
scipt and presto you are installed
-
- Quick to learn basics but long
learning curve for details each step of which is simple
but the art is long
Minimal time requirement
-
- Level of Support received:
- Excellent, prompt, accurate and
friendly
Prompt, patient, pleasure to
deal with
Excellent so far
Ist rate no complaints
Rarely required but there when
needed
-
- Functionallity and benefits
- Genie-ideal for GP prescription
writing;Easy;Relatively simple to instal and modify if
desired;Reliable
- Still haven't exploited its
full potential; it writes scripts, allows me to customise
my own scripts; referral letter are improve the quality
of the referral and commonly complimented on by
specialists etc; the database, being fully customisable
and searchable with logical operators is very powerful,
especially for recalls and finding patient files with
incompletely recalled information. eg find all patients
first named John who live in Smith street; and so on. I
have Harrisons on CD-ROM in a disc-changer and commonly
cut and paste text from it into the patient notes section
to explain more esoteric or less common details.
- Don't use the pateint education
function much yet, but I think that's because I would
prefer to write my own stuff, andf I haven't had time.
The Murtagh stuff is good, but I am not familiar enough
with it and I think it is important that what I say in
cons coresp[onds closely wit the print-out.
- Works well for what I want it
to do, especially the patient summaries
Quick easy on a day to day basis
tho Pathology down loads are not yet smooth due to Email
isp etc not genie
Easy to use and master,
fantastic for improving patient care
To whom would you recommend this software?
I chose Genie over MIMS Script and
Medical Director
I used and timed them
concurrently amnd although the establishment cost of
Genie is not subsidised by advertising, I was prepared to
fork out real money for a quicker, better program.
Running costs appear to be the
same for the Mac and Wintel machines but the hardware and
software problems with the Wintel programs means that
time would have to allowed for bug fixes. This I wished
to avoid!
Genie is easier to establish,
use, modify (if the bizarre desire takes you) and backup
your precious data. The Mac hardware is notoriously
reliable.
Therefore i chose the
combination that does the job the best.
Macintosh Performa 5400 (with 24
Mb at the time), versus a 16Mb 100Mhz 586
Any GP who wants to get involved
with his patient databases information to exploit it, who
wants a straight-forward, clean functional
program.
There is no reason why a
specialist couldn't do the same.
New doctors starting from a
patient database of zero. Need someone to input the
information, so existing old doctors like myself have to
spend a lot of time inputting existing records.
Any mac user- it is expensive
but is worth it to a mac enthusiast
Any one wishing to enhance their practice
of medicine and level of patient care - provided they are
Macintosh users
