Adjustment of air conditioning settings for patients in isolation

STANDARDS:
* Immunosuppressed patients or patients at risk are protected from infection.
* Prevention of transmission of disease from patients with communicable diseases spread by the airborne route.

PROCEDURE:
* The isolation rooms (CCU 1 and ICU 10, and C BLOCK rooms 6 & 7) have separate air conditioning units and can be regulated to cater for 2 separate modes:
* Set switch at ward desk to appropriate mode and document on Infection Control Plan.
* Inform visitors of necessary precautions.
* Refer to infection control manual for further information.
