MRI - Interesting Case 5 |
MRI knee
This 43 year old man complained of chronic intermittent medial knee pain and intermittent lateral swelling ?meniscal injury.
Sagittal PD - Meniscal tear
Image 1 shows linear high signal in the posterior horn of the medial meniscus communicating with the inferior articular surface consistent with a tear.
Axial T2 SPIR - Ganglion Cyst
Image 2 shows a 3cm lobulated and septated fluid-containing structure in the lateral soft tissues posterior to the distal femur, most likely a ganglion cyst.
MRI is the only non-invasive imaging modality that will accurately assess internal joint derangements and is the investigation of choice for a wide range of knee disorders.
